My Journey – By Aamir Shujaat

From the First Computer Course to the Age of Artificial Intelligence.

My name is Aamir Shujaat, and my journey with computers began long before technology became a retrend.back in 1990, when very few people in Pakistan even knew what a computer was, I enrolled in my first computer course. I still remember the feeling, curiosity mixed with wonder as I sat in front of that bulky machine, trying to understand how these circuits and screens could one day change the world.

Those were difficult times. Resources were limited, knowledge was scarce, and access to technology was almost impossible. But I was driven by a dream, a belief that computers would become the foundation of the future. In 1995, after years of hard work, I completed my Diploma in Computer Science. It wasn’t just a certificate for me — it was a symbol of perseverance. I wanted to take what I had learned and share it with others, so in 1996, I took a leap of faith and founded my own institution: National Institute of Advanced Technology (NIAT).

Starting NIAT was one of the biggest challenges of my life. We began with just a few computers and a handful of students. There were days when I had to fix computers myself, teach multiple classes back-to-back, and sometimes even struggle to pay rent for the small building we had. but I never gave up. My mission was simple, to bring computer education to everyone.

Over the next 12 years, our small academy grew into a strong pillar of learning. more than 30,000 students completed various IT and computer courses under our guidance. Every success story from NIAT gave me a reason to work harder. We weren’t just teaching skills; we were changing lives and helping people become a part of the digital world.

Then came 2008, a turning point in my life. I received an opportunity to work abroad in a computer-related job. When I reached the London for the first time, I was amazed. There were a huge train system, no ticket checkers, no drivers, everything was automated. From entry gates to real-time train tracking, everything was run by technology. That day, I realized how far the world had advanced and how much Pakistan still needed to catch up.

During the next 16 years, I worked across different countries on various Artificial Intelligence (AI) projects. I learned how AI was transforming industries, businesses, and even individual lives. It was a new world, faster, smarter, and more connected than ever before. And deep inside,

I carried one mission: to bring this knowledge back home. Now, after 16 years abroad, I have returned to Karachi, the city where my dream began. With new ideas and a renewed passion, I have started a new chapter of my journey through my latest project: Think Tech Computer Academy.Think Tech is not just another computer institute, it’s a vision to empower students with AI skills, digital literacy, and financial freedom. My goal is to prepare the youth of Pakistan for the future, to help them use technology not just for jobs, but for independence, innovation, and growth.

From the first computer I touched in 1990 to the AI systems I work with today, my journey has been full of challenges, learning, and endless evolution. But every struggle taught me one powerful truth: “Technology may shape the future, but courage and determination shape the person who creates it .”And that’s what I wish to teach every student who walks into Think Tech Computer Academy.

Learn. Adapt. Empower. Lead.

My Message for Every Student:

No matter where you start, your willingness to learn will decide

how far you go. I began with one computer, you have the

whole world at your fingertips. Make it count.
